Hello, I’m Michele! A teacher in my soul, I love to use my specific knowledge to support other people’s growth. Many of my clients experience barriers related to accent, communication style, or voice function in their personal and professional lives. Through a fully personalised approach, I help clients finally improve in the areas they have always felt dissatisfied, or to address needs they may not have been aware of!
I first enjoyed a successful career as a classical singer and voice teacher for over 2 decades, nurturing a passion for languages and a deep understanding of the human voice. I then earned a Master’s of Science degree in Speech Language Pathology from McMaster University and have since worked with a diverse range of clients, from language-delayed preschoolers to adults with voice disorders, and many others in between. I am a founding member of the Speak Fluent team.
Here, the skill sets from my 2 careers come together beautifully. Breath and resonance strategies help strengthen and unlock people’s speaking voices so they feel more comfortable and sound more confident. I help re-train ears to hear pronunciation differences and support systematic changes by adjusting mouth shape, syllable stress, intonation, and flow. Professionals striving for career advancement practice organising thoughts and presenting them with greater impact. Plentiful feedback and carefully chosen homework are key. Through strategic self-monitoring, my clients learn to make conscious choices about the way they communicate, leading to greater communication confidence.
At other times, I can be found planning/working in/enjoying my gardens, or hanging out with my husband, our 2 incredible daughters, and our dogs - Bella and Poco.
