Hi, I’m Chelsea! As a speech-language pathologist and communication coach, I have a passion for working with non-native English speakers on goals such as modifying their accents, improving their fluency, explaining themselves more clearly and effectively, as well as implementing appropriate tone and intonation. I also have a lot of experience helping clients prepare and practice their specific presentations. My main focus is to increase clients’ overall confidence when communicating in English both professionally and socially.
I have years of experience working as a speech-language pathologist across various populations and communication needs. I completed my Master’s Degree in Communicative Disorders at Eastern New Mexico University in the United States. I have been working with Speak Fluent since early 2022 and have had the pleasure of working with hundreds of clients to improve various aspects of their communication. I have also worked in hospitals, private practice, and school settings, which has given me a well-rounded background in the speech-language pathology field.
My approach to communication training places a heavy focus on increasing clients’ confidence when speaking. I tailor activities and goals to each individual client, ensuring we focus on what will have the biggest impact on their specific communication needs. I teach technical information in a way that is fun and easy to understand. This is achieved by using visual, auditory, and tactile cues paired with various speaking activities to create a comprehensive learning experience. I strive to empower clients to be able to self-evaluate outside of our sessions. Clients should expect to be excited to come to sessions and feel as though we have a relationship where we can chat, ask questions, and truly enjoy the learning process.
Aside from being a speech-language pathologist, I enjoy cooking, playing card games and trivia, as well as being outdoors. I was raised in Ottawa, ON and have had the pleasure of living in various parts of Ontario, as well as in Alberta, New Mexico, Newfoundland, and now Labrador, which is a remote area of northern Canada. Since moving to Labrador in 2022, my husband and I have embraced Labrador life by snowmobiling, ice fishing, canoeing, hunting, and enjoying the beautiful northern lights in our backyard.
I am a registered speech-language pathologist in British Columbia, Ontario, Alberta, and Newfoundland.
